I’m an independent historian based in Manchester, Connecticut. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to share stories about the lives and careers of early women artisan photographers (EWAPs) in a variety of settings:
- Libraries
- Historical societies
- Universities
- History Camps
- Academic conferences
I tailor each of my talks, selecting a group of EWAPs to include based on the group I’m talking to. The Photographs, Pistols & Parasols project includes research on EWAPs from every U.S. state and Washington, D.C., as well as from other countries, too, so I have a lot of photographer stories to choose from.
For example, my March 2025 at the public library in Manchester, Connecticut, revolved around stories about women photographers from Manchester and towns all over Connecticut.
By the way, I love talking to live audiences, but I’m also happy to do a talk over Zoom, too. You can check out this recording of my 2022 Zoom presentation to the Photographic Historical Society of New England.
